Board Update March 07 Most of the sugar springs board meeting was about the upcoming vote to raise the annual dues.

President stated those absentee voters who appoint others to vote for them are not required by law to vote the wishes of the property owner.   This was a low point for me in trusting the people we place in position of power at sugar springs.

General Manager stated he may not vote the wishes of the property owner!   He is one of two people appointed to vote for others who can not be there. Firebat asked the sugar springs board to vote the non paying lots in this election!

Another person asked the board to remove the option for absentee voter to select whether he was in favor or not of this increase.  Proposition to set sugar springs dues at $380.00 per lot in 2008, $390.00 for 2009 and $400.00 for 2010.

The POA board at Sugar Springs has grand plans for Sugar Springs, watch for the new activity building  request,  $3.0  - 3.5 million dollars.  Rather than spending $$ on an activity building, they should be looking to purchase a farm for future dredging activities.

When will the POA address the shallow lake problem! Cost ?  (Millions of dollars)

What do you think about Real estate brokers not paying dues and lake assessment at Sugar Springs for two years if they buy three or more lots from the state for back taxes.

Can you find the spot in the By-laws or Covenants that gives the Sugar Springs POA board the right to suspend dues and lake assessments to property owners (broker)?

About Sugar Springs

ISSAACSON, Inc. Developed farm and wild land in the northern part of Gladwin County in 1977 by damming the Sugar River. The resulting lakes became the Sugar Springs Development. Two lakes, one private and one open to the public (lake Lancer). Lake Lancer is an artificial lake created by backing the damming of the sugar river. The Lakes have since become a beautiful community for homeowners and campers alike

What is the POA?
The POA is the Property Owners Association of Sugar Springs.  This board is comprised of 8 elected or appointed property owners who are responsible for the day to day operations.
What is the A & E Committee?  This is the sugarsprings Architectural and Environmental Control Committee.  The A&E committee is made up of three individuals who create and enforce regulations in Sugar Springs. A "security vehicle" (which doesn't perform security, it seems to only spy on people) travels throughout Sugar Springs (this is not for your safety, this is to "take away privileges" If you happen to have broken one of the many ever changing rules!
